Blogging on ActiveRain Real Estate Network has Helped My Search Engine Rankings

I am amazed at how much help ActiveRain has been to my Website visablity. Appraisalmo.com used to hardly show up anywhere on any of the sites. There has been a wonderful increase in the ratings of this website, since joining ActiveRain.

I Blogged about some things revelant to my practice, I built up my ActiveRain point total to be the top professional in my city. I am way behind the top leader in my county and state, however I am the featured appraiser in my state. These things alone appear to be helpful.

I read on ActiveRain about SEO optimization. I still have alot of work to do on the site, as I appear to have made several mistakes. Several revisions will be made gradually to the website following advice in the SEO groups.

Advice I have taken is submitting my website to numerous listing directories. I just did that, I will watch rankings as the web crawlers have a chance to read these. Other things include not copy and pasting other page information, I did that and I am slowly revising with careful words meaning the same thing. Page titles to the the pages and keyword information has helped.

I do this slowly as I do not want to make a change to hurt myself drastically and not be able to figure out which change caused the problem. I am no pro at this, however I am making progress.

Thanks for this!  I just began blogging and am still learning how to use it most effectively with my site about Flagstaff Real Estate ....www.TheFlagstaffWebsite.com.  LOL.  See, I just linked to my site.  I'm learning!

Happy Saturday!

Eileen,   I am definetely still learning, great work!

Jim, I find ActiveRain very helpful, I have wrote a couple of blogs on Home Inspections, will you plese read and let me know if you feel I have been rude to Home Inspectors.

Huiting,  Glad it is working out!

David, Keep working on your marketshare. When things get better, some of your competition will be gone.

Konnie,    I have referred others to ActiveRain, they do not blog at all.

Scott,   One thing the pros say is to try to bring up what you do and your kewords into your stories. I usually will italize, bold or underline a keyword for the web crawlers. Even if it is just your hometown.

I have found that I am being seen by google alot more.  I do google alerts and put my name in to see when google picks me up and most of them are from AR.  I just wish that AR didn't have a limit on posts and comments a day. Gotta love AR. My other blog site is fairly new and is something I designed and had a company build and add their flare and advice to make it better.

It's very important you also focus on getting relevant links back to your site. You can do this through press releases and link exchanges with other companies in your field. Google weights link popularity very highly in how they rank you for your keywords.

This is a very helpful post because I am in the beginning stages of learning this type of information for my blogs.  The AR site is a tremendous help to me also.

James, I was just scrolling through your website. Although yours looks much better than mine, is it possible you created it yourself. I didn't see an ala mode stamp at the end of it. I created mine, and I'm not technical but while it saved me a lot of money, I also had fun and learned a thing or two. I've had my website for about 5 or 6 years and I'm always tweaking or changing it. Right now, I'm trying to figure out the SEO, one tiny step at a time. And sometimes landing myself two steps backwards. Activerain definitely helps with google, which is really nice.  And although I have received several orders through this site, I'm always a little bit surprised at the kindredness of this portal. I constantly learn something new by reading blogs, which are based on experience and real life/work situations as opposed to theory.

Gynell,

Yes I created my site. I used a hosting company that was helpful and gave me alot of page building help. The Website is just over two years old. I guess I would receive more direct business contacts from ActiveRain, except not many professions in my area are on, and many a low percentage of those few regularly blog.

We just keep going forward. Thank you for stopping here.

Mary,

I think yahoo is a little slower in indexing this blogging area. Not quite as positive on the results, however helpful over the long term.

Cool-when I google appraiser in St Charles Missouri, you're coming up as number 3 (on the unpaid list).  Great job.  Do you do your own SEO or do you hire someone to help you?

Oops I see you already answered that question above.

Posted by Rita Bradley, Valuation Consultant in Orange County California 949-916-3263 almost 10 years ago

Rita,

I do my own stunts, most are successful, however some hurt. I have have targeted missouri as a whole for seo. I am told I need a few months for my last tactic to take effect, (REGISTERING IN WEB DIRECTORIES.)  I also rate much higher in many cases for appraisal instead of appraiser.

The top rated guy in my town had his website for more than ten years, google values that heavy. My rank is 2, his is one on a scale of ten, but he comes first.

Posted by James Graner (Residential Services: http://appraisalmo.com) almost 10 years ago

I'd say you're doing very well.  Good for you!

James - I like your information but I didn't understand all of it. You said "Other things include not copy and pasting other page information, I did that and I am slowly revising with careful words meaning the same thing. Page titles to the the pages and keyword information has helped."

What happens when you copy and paste? What are you copying anyway? and What directories are you registered in?

Sorry for all the questions but I'm still learning.

Making progress is the key.  I've been surprised how many links back to my website I get from just here on AR.  Your websites not bad either looks like you've got some page rank.  That means you're heading in the right direction.

Posted by Justin Ukaoma, Kansas City Real Estate Investments (Vizion KC) almost 10 years ago

Connie,

Any directory, does not really matter. Search engines, like Google, read web directories regularly to determine how revelant a website is. Get on as many as will allow you to post a listing for free as possible. Almost all have a Real Estate Section.

I also used Directory Maximizer (directorymaximizer.com) for $.14 each site, I got on hundreds of directories and only filled out one submission form. Results are not instant, however this does work and I will continue to grow this way.

Copy and pasting information already on the web is reconized by search engines. In past, I used multiple pages with almost identical information and different page titles to have my links compete for search engine placement using different search words. I learned to revise my words to not be picked up as plaquerism by the search engines.

Justin,

I just learned to spread things out a little with other networks, as well. ActiveRain is still the mothership of all for the Real Estate Professional.

James, just stopped by to check out your blog (after you commented on my post).  It's late -- too late to read it all, but I'll be back to read and comment.  Congratulations on improving your site ranking -- I see you're really working on that.  It will pay off.  I still need to work on mine -- I know I've made mistakes and need to make the changes.
