I Was Looking for Some Positive News!

We just cannot get much of a break in the Real Estate Market. It appears everytime something good is reported in the Real Estate crisis, we get several reports to drown out the news.

I personally think that the media is talking down the economy and exaggerating in order to have influence on the Presidential & Congressional Elections in November. We saw economic news reported in a fashion similar to 1992, when Bill Clinton won the Presidential Election. Before he took office, he took credit for changing confidence in the economy.

This situation hurts us in the Real Estate Industry especially hard as the job market has not changed drastically, so much of the economic news has been the Real Estate Market. I know there are real economic problems, however I a tired of daily assaults to our industry.

Agree that if the media would take a different tact and begin to report more positive things, or at least not place a negative spin on so much it would be far better. Just our 2 cents.

The media has proven they want to create rather than report the news.

Thank You Bob and Carolin,

I just things are taken out of context in a big way.

I couldnt agree more.  But I think we at Active rain can help change that to a degree. I try to use my blog to reach my clients, and I promote it to them, in mailings, emails and whenever I talk with them.  I figure if I talk about the good things perhaps it will help move us along in a better direction.  Right now though I dont think it is just the Real Estate market, the down turn has hit so much more than just us.

BUT OPTIMISM is usually the only thing that gets anyone out of a rut!! So move on with great articles about whatever GOOD you see, and comment on every uplifting blog post, so it can have chance of being seen by others besides us here at AR

The Media is all about getting you to watch...and bad/shocking news increases viewership...they do not care that it hurts the economy.

I agree, in some of my communciations I remind readers not believe everything they hear because the news is almost like a gossip columnist!

You do know that the St. Charles County Assn. of REALTORS has a PR campaign going on right now and will have it going for another 6-7 months.  You can check it out on our website and all of the PR stuff is for you to use including the new PR logo.  Check it out www.stcharlesrealtors.com.

We were trying to do the same thing this morning and all we could find was national news reports after news report of gloom. While we know and feel bad for those areas that have been hard hit, we also know that not all are this way. Our region Portland/Vancouver's economy is predicted to grow.

The counter attack is just not to listen.  Go out and find people who want to move and be carefull who you work with.  You can make your own market.

The media sure likes to talk about the bargains in Real Estate. I really cannot blame them anymore.
